Vila Sagrada Esperança
Saurimo, Angola - 2007

The Village Sagrada Esperança is a plan to develop an urban cluster from the root in Lunda Sul, Angola. The purpose is to create a sustainable structure based on identity of the intended population, taking as its starting point a civic center as a promoter of the dynamic and socialization, consisting of three nuclear divisions: administrative, educational and commercial. Have been equated assumptions of spatial, cultural, economic, demographic, climate and geographical outlining the main points of the plan development. First, the extension of existing regional road, and need to create a health center composed of a hospital building with motherhood, predicting the widespread use of the people of the surrounding. From the central core was planned the introduction of an promenade with walking routes, linking one of them into a block of making crafts activities, and the other to an ethnographic museum. Next to this museum is proposed to build a library, defining a center of cultural activities ("silent") not festive. It’s still projected a great area for festive outdoor activities which will be part of an auditorium. The insertion of a natural park in the east will integrate a sports center, foreseeing a future university center. Other sports pole appears on the opposite side to the west, with a building for swimming pool and sports pavilion as well as a playground outdoors. The creation of a green belt of city protection, along the regional road sets a pedestrian route accompanied by a green "curtain", connecting the two sports centers and can also function as jogging and bike path. In the west, along the strip of ecological protection and pedestrian path designed along the river, and therefore farther from the residential area, is implanted another natural park for public use, which will include: Environment Division and green spaces (including the collection of solid waste and center of prevention and treatment of the mosquito’s pest) and central public transport collection. Along the main road perpendicular to the river are reserved two blocks for the Catoca Mining Society and Endiama’s partners. It was also equated the creation of a cemetery, located in the transition zone to the ecological range. Regarding housing planning, it’s contemplated the projection of 11 models, 10 of which inserted in plots of 600 m2, 1 inserted in plots of 900m2. Typologies T2, T3 and T4, modular and evolutionary, in houses of two, three and four fronts are covered. Despite of the variety of types, was created a global language so that the differentiation is as scarce as possible.
