The intervention is located in a noble area of the parish of Arcozelo, a fully urbanistically consolidated location where essentially find single family houses type. Although there are close to some equipment (tennis and golf) with good accessibility [1250 meters of the main entrances on the motorway] this is still a quiet and peaceful place, typical of residential areas, away from the frenzy of the beaches during the summer season which takes account of this parish of Vila Nova de Gaia. The intervention started in 2012, is about improve the quality and comfort of the remodelled and expanded existing building. In the rehabilitation process was made use of the latest construction systems, finishes and technologies, providing considerable improvement in livability. The intervention is assumed by the difference in color and material, but doesn’t stray from the original, it can be said that the assumption was to strengthen the relationship between the new and the old. The project kept the structural and volumetric characteristics of the existing building while retaining its original design in respect to his memory, while affirming its contemporaneity. The interior was demolished with the intention of making it more spacious and although it has made expansion to create spaces like the garage, office, laundry room and kitchen, the original idea was always to keep the original reading of the building perimeter. A box of new stairs is assumed as the main piece, almost suspended on glass walls to provide visual continuity between the living room and the kitchen. The result is obvious, has been recovered the spaces, now with a contemporary language where even the smallest details make all the difference.
